this did not help me. the image uploads but appears broken still. i did the absolute path. i even changed the storage directory. can someone help me?

I just ran into this very same problem and wasted a couple of hours searching for a solution. I thought that my problems were related to running WP on XAMPP under Windows and directory permissions, so I was looking for a solution in a wrong place. I am glad I found your post or who knows how much longer I’d be searching for a fix. Thanks a lot!

It is one of those problems that just crops up once in a while. Most probably has to do with your server settings. I didn’t have the problem at my blog either.
