Goodbye EBAY After Your New Feedback Policies!

Topics: Miscellaneous

I have been trying to sell one item on Ebay for the past 3 weeks and just could not figure out why the number of scammers had gone up through the roof.

First Discrepancy
The first time I added the item, I had a bidder who had four positive feedback points. What was weird was that all the four comments were completely negative. I was wondering what was wrong with the sellers. According to all four of them the guy was scamming and still the feedback rating was positive.

Disappearing Act Number One
Next when my item sold, the buyer just disappeared. It was only when I mentioned that I will open an unpaid items dispute that he contacted Ebay and told them his account was misused. Talk about convenient.

My entire auction was canceled so I could not leave the buyer negative feedback. Not to mention my option of second chance offer was also gone.

Disappearing Act Number Two
Thinking this was a one time thing, I put the item up for auction again. Guess what? Another unresponsive bidder. Three days passed without as much as even a message. Forget the payment.

This time I figured no warnings. Lets just leave negative feedback and send in an unpaid items complaint.

And that is when it hit me hard!

There is no negative feedback option for buyers, anymore.

Apparently they can scam you like mad, disappear on you and you cannot do a single thing about it. And the reasoning Ebay gives is so buyers leave honest feedback for sellers without fear of retaliation.

I have never heard more crap in my life.

What about seller’s protection? What about our rights as a seller and our right to see if a buyer is trustworthy? If this is the kind of attitude Ebay has towards its sellers then I am out of there.

No wonder all these scammers have cropped. No wonder bidders no longer have a problem with running away. So much for the bidding being a contract when there is no one enforcing the rules.

Oh yes there is the unpaid items dispute but you can only open that after 7 days. I wait 7 days, open a dispute, wait another 5 days to see if the buyer responds, then Ebay spends another 3 days trying to contact them and then they finally bother adding an unpaid item strike to the buyer’s account. And by the time all is said and done, my next bidder whom I could have offered a second chance offer has bought the item elsewhere.

In other words, that isn’t really much of an option.

Ebay had it so good with their feedback system. And now they have gone and completely destroyed it. It is completely unbelievable!

  1. So that’s why ebay has been slumping and going down. I mean their stock prices have taken huge hits, and the shopping there isn’t as great as it used to be. And I have bought a car before on ebay!

    Till then,

    • A car? Wow! Things sure are changing at Ebay. I doubt I’ll be purchasing or selling much there.

  2. That seems odd that EBAY wold eliminate the ability o post negative feedback about buyers. I know personally that this was something I always checked before dealing with a buyer. Not a very wise business decision in my opinion.

    • Agreed. They are leaving the seller out in the cold and open to all kind of scams with policies like these.

    Interesting post.

Ebay users totally rely on the feedback system. For these errors to tak eplace, it’s highly negative on Ebay.

  5. Scammers can now scam widely at Ebay. Good thing you came up with this article. I’ve been selling a lot of items in Ebay. I’ve noticed lately that it is hard to sell items at Ebay.

At least now I know the reason why. People are having a hard time distinguishing who is for real and who is a scammer. Placing a negative feedback at Ebay is really important. In this way you would know from whom to buy and not to buy.

Scammers can now give feedbacks to each other so that they can have a good reputation. And when they will have more victims.

Too bad for Ebay. It is a real down fall for them. Great work posting this article! Keep it up!

This is not good for EBAY but I had heard there were some issues. A friend of mine sells some things using EBAY as opposed to amazon. Glad you posted this article I will ask my friend to check it out. :)
