Is Your Comment Author Link All Messed Up?
Did you recently upgrade to WP 2.7 and noticed that your comment author link is a bit messed up?
If you are also using the Semiologic do-follow plugin, you might also have noticed that it is no longer working.
SOLUTION
Look in your plugins to see if you have a Google Analyticator plugin. Just deactivate it and everything will be back to normal.

Honestly, this thing of Google Analyticator takes the cake ! I know it’s also all about point of view. Anyway, I don’t see great future in loosing time with that kind of plugin. I’m not sure if it’s something greatly appreciated by Google.

Plus you can just add the Google Analytics code manually to the footer.php file so no great loss as far as the plugin is concerned.

omg… I upgraded last week but didn’t check the author link. Thank you for sharing this important info. I just hope I know where to find that Google Analy-whatever plugin…

If you have the plugin installed, it should be in the plugins section. Click on Plugins in the left hand menu.
This could have gone unnoticed for so long so I’m just glad I found this problem.

That is the only thing that sucks about upgrading, having a plugin go haywire. At least it was an easy fix. Usually I try to wait a few months before upgrading just to give developers time to update their plugins to the new platform.

The problem with waiting a few months is that they are ready with a new version by the time you are ready to install the last one LOL. Then you get tempted by all the new features
But yah, it is best to wait a few weeks at least. Personally I’ve had the least problem upgrading from 2.5 to 2.7 as this was the only problem plugin. All the rest that I use are either being updated regularly or are simple enough to still work.

I’ve learned my lesson well. Whenever I do an upgrade I always double-check all plugins. These stuffs are made by different people at different times so we can’t expect them to work along smoothly together.

Except upgrades also come with bug fixes, patches and some great new features. It is just a good idea to wait a couple of months until it all settles down, though.
