Best Barcode Scanner for Android: Creating and Scanning Barcodes

Search for a barcode scanner application for Android and you will find everyone recommending Barcode Scanner.

I installed the application but it takes forever to scan a barcode. I tried it on the Android application barcodes and it will just sit there for 3-4 seconds trying to scan the barcode. The whole process reminds me of a not so great camera trying to focus in low light.

A Better Solution

I had the good fortune of finding an amazing little application that scans so much faster and is a pleasure to use. The application is called Scanlife. Sadly you will not find many recommending it over Barcode Scanner. I personally blame it on the name. I don’t think it is a very easy to find app. I had to spend a bit of time trying to re-find the app – I had forgotten its name. Try searching for Barcode Scanner and guess what shows up at the top.

Creating barcodes

However, there is one reason why I still have Barcode Scanner installed and that is because of this really neat app called App Referrer. This application lets you create barcodes for Android applications. For example all the bar codes you see on this site for Android apps were created using App Referrer. However, this application only works if you have Barcode Scanner installed.
